Your SchoolBrief address Loading…
What this does: Once set up, every school email you receive will automatically be forwarded to SchoolBrief. You never have to do it manually again — just say "Alexa, open the school brief skill" every morning.
Not getting school emails in the first place? Some school apps (ClassDojo, Seesaw, Schoology and others) default to push notifications only and never send a real email. If your inbox is empty, there's nothing to forward yet — check your school apps first →
What senders should I forward? Some examples that have worked for our beta testers: parentsquare.com, zcs.k12.in.us, ryzer.com — but every school district is different. When in doubt, forward it and SchoolBrief will figure out what's relevant.
A note from John on why forwarding, not a one-click connection

I built and tested a one-click "Connect Gmail" option so you wouldn't have to set any of this up. In the end, I decided it wouldn't meet the standards we hold our products to.

Forwarding keeps you in control of every email SchoolBrief ever sees — you decide what comes through, nothing more. Parent to parent, that's the standard I want to hold SchoolBrief to.

Gmail
Most common — works on any device
Create a filter that matches your school's sender (e.g. parentsquare.com) and set it to forward to your SchoolBrief address above.
O
Outlook
Office 365, Hotmail, or Live accounts
Create a rule that matches your school's sender and forwards matching emails to your SchoolBrief address above.
☁︎
iCloud Mail
@icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com — rules run in Apple's cloud
Sign in at iCloud.com → Mail, open Mail Settings → Rules, and create a rule that matches your school's sender and forwards matching emails to your SchoolBrief address above.
Tip: iCloud rules run in Apple's cloud — they keep working even when your Mac or iPhone is asleep. Unlike Apple Mail on Mac (below), this is set-and-forget.
Apple Mail (Mac)
Works on Mac — not available on iPhone
Create a rule in Mail → Settings → Rules that matches your school's sender and forwards to your SchoolBrief address above.
Note: Rules only run when Mail is open on your Mac. If your iCloud account is your primary, the iCloud Mail option above is more reliable.
📱
iPhone / iPad
Manual forward — takes 5 seconds
iPhone Mail doesn't support automatic forwarding rules. When you get a school email, tap the reply arrow → Forward → paste your SchoolBrief address → Send.
Tip: Save your SchoolBrief address as a contact named "SchoolBrief" so it autocompletes. If you also have a Mac, set up Apple Mail rules there for automatic forwarding.
Not sure if it worked?
Forward one school email manually to your SchoolBrief address right now
Check your SchoolBrief dashboard in a few minutes — your digest will appear
Say "Alexa, open the school brief skill" to hear it read aloud
If Alexa reads back the content — you're all set. The filter handles everything from here.
